The Division of Psychology and Psychological Therapies at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for ‘The Employer Award’ category. This award celebrates organisations that go above and beyond to employ and support individuals with a learning disability or autism, creating inclusive workplaces where everyone can thrive.

The awards celebrate excellence in the support of people with learning disabilities and autism and aim to pay tribute to those individuals or organisations who excel in providing quality care.

The nomination focused on the forward-thinking and supportive environment created by the division, highlighting the low sickness rates and high staff satisfaction as clear indicators of a workplace that prioritises wellbeing and values its people.

The latest Trust staff survey highlighted that team members felt heard, respected, and empowered in their roles. This culture of care directly benefits service users, particularly within the autism service, where the psychology team delivered high-quality, specialist care.

With a strong focus on challenging outdated practices and driving progress, the division exemplifies the values of the NHS and continues to make a meaningful difference to both staff and the communities it serves.

Louise Braham, Chief Psychologist and Multi-Disciplinary Team Development Lead at Derbyshire Healthcare, said: “We are incredibly proud of the Division of Psychology and Psychological Therapies for being recognised in this way. Their commitment to inclusive employment is a shining example of how we can all play a part in building a more equitable NHS.”

Arun Chidambaram, Medical Director at Derbyshire Healthcare, said: “This recognition is a testament to the values we hold close to us at Derbyshire Healthcare. The Division of Psychology and Psychological Therapies has shown what it means to lead with compassion and inclusion. Supporting colleagues and individuals with learning disabilities or autism strengthens our workforce and also enriches the care we provide to our communities.

“The division’s leadership, especially Dr Louise Braham – Chief Psychologist, Stuart Clensy – Area Service Manager for the division and Dr Helen Philpott – Deputy Head of Psychology, deserves this recognition for fostering autonomy, collaboration, and continuous improvement.”

The awards ceremony will take place in Birmingham on 4 July 2025, celebrating excellence across the UK in supporting people with learning disabilities and autism.
