These webpages explain the mental health services we provide to older people. Our teams support older people with 'functional' mental health conditions like schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. They also support people with 'organic' conditions like dementia.
- Bluebell Ward, at Walton Hospital in Chesterfield, is the home of our older adult inpatient mental health service for northern Derbyshire. Tissington House, at Kingsway Hospital in Derby, is the home of our older adults inpatient mental health service for southern Derbyshire. Both units provide inpatient mental healthcare for older adults with functional mental health needs.
- We provide a range of services to support people experiencing crisis as a result of dementia, or suspected dementia. These include our Dementia Rapid Response Teams, our inpatient (hospital) services (Cubley Court) and our memory assessment service.
- Our community mental health teams for older people offer support to people with a range of mental health difficulties. The service is largely for clients above working age (aged 65 years and above). However the service will work with people under 65 years of age where dementia is a likely diagnosis or where it is considered to be the most appropriate service. These teams are supported by our In Reach and Home Treatment teams.
