The Derbyshire Healthcare art competition 2025 "What makes me happy" is open!

Local people who are part of the Derbyshire Healthcare community are being encouraged to fire up their imagination and creativity and share what makes them happy through an art competition – and at the same time help raise awareness of our services and challenge health stigmas. We want to showcase and celebrate your creativity.

"We believe that art can help heal the poorly mind. When someone creates their own picture, that aids their recovery."
Malcolm Grieve, Chesterfield and North Derbyshire Mental Health Carers Art Group

How to enter

You can use any medium: paints, pencils, pastels, inks, paper, collage etc.

Once you've created your artwork, take a good quality photograph of it.

Then email the photo to us at dhcft.membership@nhs.net along with a completed entry form (opens in Microsoft Word).

Along with your entry form, please include a short paragraph (up to 200 words) explaining how art helps with your wellbeing. If you are shortlisted, this will be included with your artwork. If you are under 18 years of age, your parent or guardian must sign the entry form – this is really important.

The entry must be your original work, and you must be the artist and creator.

The closing date is midnight on Friday 8 August 2025.

Consent

By entering the art competition, participants give their consent to Derbyshire Healthcare to use their name and/or entry in any publicity material; the artwork will be attributed to you unless you ask to remain anonymous.

The copyright of the entry will remain with you, the participant.

Announcing the winners

The finalists will be invited to the Trust’s Annual Members Meeting (AMM) on 2 October, where the winning entries will be announced. The Annual Members Meeting will be a virtual event using Miscrosoft Teams. You can book your AMM place on Eventbrite.

Prizes for the winning entries will include a certificate and artist materials.
