Walking in the Countryside
How art helps my wellbeing: I enjoy creating things and have painted since I was a child. In recent years, whilst caring for my son, and later my father, I found it helped me to cope with the stresses that looking after someone with chronic illness brings. Painting helped me by reducing feelings of helplessness the tensions and anxieties that this can bring. To sit quietly painting for a few hours a week makes me feel better about myself. The creation of art helps to reduce that feeling of being lost with no way out. Painting is a positive act and doing it often raises problems that I can solve and the occasional feeling of success. I find that art relaxes me too, as does walking in the countryside, which I also enjoy and is subject of my entry: Walking in the Countryside.
