Dementia Rapid Response Team

Dementia patient receiving support at home

The Dementia Rapid Response Team (DRRT) is a community-based service provided by Derbyshire Healthcare. The first DRRT started in the south of Derbyshire in 2015. Another team is launching in the north of Derbyshire in 2018.

Aims of the DRRT

The primary aim of each DRRT is to improve the well-being of people with dementia at times of crisis, by delivering rapid assessment and intensive support. In the process, the team aims to reduce the need for admission into specialist dementia hospital beds.

The teams are multi-disciplinary and include mental health nurses, psychiatrists, occupational therapists and health care assistants. The service is primarily delivered in an individual’s home, wherever that home may be.
