Derby’s NHS mental health service for children and young people will be opening its doors on 10 October with a free open day showcasing the support it provides.
As part of World Mental Health Day (10 October), the local Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) is once again hosting an open day event at Temple House in Derby so young people and their families can learn more about CAMHS and other local mental health organisations – and this year, the service are also fundraising to help raise money for some of their patient activities and support groups.

Doors will open at Temple House, Mill Hill Lane, Derby, DE23 6SA on Monday 10 October between 12.30pm and 5.30pm.
The theme of World Mental Health Day this year is ‘it’s time to prioritise mental health in the workplace’. The event will showcase services across CAMHS, as well as other local services to find out more about accessing mental health services.
The open day is free to attend with funds from various prizes, including a raffle and cake sale, being donated to support the work of the CAMHS Participation Group, which involves children and young people with lived experience and their families in shaping the care that CAMHS provides. The day is planned and delivered by the CAMHS Participation Team with help from the CAMHS staff and local groups. There is a JustGiving page available to those who are unable to attend the event and wish to donate to the CAMHS Participation Group.
Some comments from those who attended previously:
- “The event is very well organised. Great conversation and amazing atmosphere.”
- “Informative, fun, openness and positive.”
- “Really useful help and advice. That will make a difference to our pupils.”
Scott Lunn, General Manager for Childrens Services at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, said: “The CAMHS event will help to spread awareness around the importance of mental health, challenge stigma and showcase some of the great work taking place.
“The day has been developed using a model of co-production between health professionals, young people and their families, to build opportunities for local services to work more closely across Derby and Derbyshire. There will be lots of professionals available to have a friendly conversation with and lots of stalls to engage with.”
