--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Deeann Whiteside, Criminal Justice Liaison Diversion (CJLD) and Reconnect Team Manager

“I would like to nominate Deeann Whiteside for a DEED recognition following her support with a specialist EPRR (emergency planning) query. Deeann made time at short notice to provide clear, knowledgeable and balanced advice on a complex matter involving criminal justice pathways, prison release, mental health referral routes, Liaison and Diversion, Reconnect and community services. Her expertise helped clarify responsibilities, support an accurate response, and identify wider learning. Deeann approached the discussion with professionalism, calmness and a constructive attitude. Her input demonstrated the real value of Liaison and Diversion as a skilled, responsive and supportive service across the Trust.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Russell Pearson, Information Technology Technical Services Manager and Joined Up Care Derbyshire Cyber Group Lead

“Russell may not be in a clinical role but his position in the Trust is so instrumental and vital for all technical solutions. He is very focused and has worked hard over the last two years implementing a centralised budget for all our staff who require reasonable adjustments. The vision was to break down the barriers and have a functional process that was easy. Russell worked many hours for this to be achievable. He is remarkable, nothing was too much trouble for this innovation project to work. Thank you for your dedication and resourcefulness, Russell.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Joe Morgan, Digital and Design Officer, Communications and Engagement Team, Kingsway

“Joe has given his time and expertise to help produce a video local for Derbyshire, to promote the Learning Disability Register. The team wouldn't have been able to produce this without the knowledge of Joe, and we want to pass on our thanks.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Estates team at the Derwent Unit including Alan Stew, Dave Gilling, Colin Varghese, Matt Ralston and Loxley Martin

“Just wanted to take a moment to say a massive thank you to the Estates team at the Derwent Unit. These guys are extremely responsive to requests made and they go above and beyond to ensure the environment is safe to meet the needs of the service. Always accommodating, nothing is too much trouble, work is always completed with a smile on their face! Thank you, guys.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Janine Hallam, Lead Nurse, High Peak Crisis team

“Janine is the mother of the team; she brings wisdom and a wealth of knowledge, supporting everyone through difficult times. She always goes above and beyond in welcoming new team members, is consistently willing to help, and is open to discussion, generously sharing her experience and expertise. She demonstrates outstanding partnership by actively involving the team, and ensuring their perspectives shape the way we work. Janine builds strong relationships, encouraging collaborative working and shared decision‑making.”

Productivity

Showcasing individuals or teams that have found innovative ways to design and deliver services that demonstrate best value for our population, encourage prevention and self- care, and/or generate efficiencies.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Flow Coordinators, Bed Management Team, Radbourne Unit and Carsington Unit – including Sandy Rai, Claire Bingham, Sham Khan and Adam Kennedy

“Exceptional, devoted, dedicated, tireless and resolute, I could go on! But these are five adjectives to describe the Bed Management Team as a whole throughout the last few months of March, April and May. This team has been depleted but they have soldiered on without any compromise to ensure the admissions and discharges within the acute working age patient sector have continued. Each and every team member has shed blood, sweat and tears, such is their dedication to DHCFT and the patients. Thank you.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lynn Dunham, Cristopher Aguilera, Emma Warrilow - Electronic Patient Survey project team

“Lynn, Emma and Cris are recognised for their exceptional dedication in reinstating the Electronic Patient Survey (EPS) at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Following a cessation in system support, they demonstrated initiative, resilience and strong collaboration to successfully reinitiate this vital feedback mechanism. Their efforts restored the Trust’s ability to capture real-time patient voice, enabling meaningful insights to drive service improvement. Through their commitment, they have strengthened patient engagement, supported quality improvement, and reinforced a culture of listening.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Gilling, Mechanical Technician, Estates Department, Derwent Unit

“I would like to thank Dave for going above and beyond on Friday 22 May. We had an issue with the ward door which meant it was unsafe. I contacted Dave who was just leaving for the weekend and he returned and stayed until the door was fixed. Many thanks for your help. You always go above and beyond for us.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Iram Rehman, Undergraduate Medical Education Administrator, Radbourne Unit

“I nominate Iram for her exceptional coordination of third year medical student placements. She manages a high workload, balancing significant demand, competing service pressures, and frequent changes. Working largely behind the scenes, she ensures placements are scheduled smoothly while liaising effectively with multiple teams, staff, and students. Her communication is clear, proactive, and responsive, and she consistently resolves conflicts efficiently with minimal input. Her work has a direct impact on service organisation and student experience, enabling high-quality placements to be delivered. We are incredibly fortunate to have her, and her commitment and hard work are valued by the team.”

Patient Focused

For an individual or team that has been highly responsive to the needs and values of our service users, patients, children, families and carers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tanith Hough, Emotion Regulation Pathway (ERP) Lead Nurse, Derby City Wellbeing Team B, St Andrews House

“Tanith goes above and beyond in her role not only in ERP but as part of the wider community mental health team. She always ensures patient care is thorough and ensures any tasks related to patient care are seen through to the end even if it’s not patients on her own caseload. She is always so helpful and kind to colleagues, patients and carers and such a huge asset to the team. Tanith deserves true recognition and applause for how hard she works and the compassion she shows for everyone she meets. She also makes lovely cakes.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Bluebell Ward, Walton Hospital

“I’d like to take a moment to thank every member of staff on Bluebell Ward. The past couple of weeks have been challenging, but as a team we’ve supported one another and continue to grow stronger each day, improving both individually and collectively. Your hard work and dedication to providing the highest standard of care does not go unnoticed. Every one of you is a valued part of the team, and I hope you carry that with you.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Kirsty Hobson, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) Practitioner, Temple House

“Kirsty has been able to engage a young person with complex needs and difficulties with engagement in the day service outreach visits as well as coming into the building. This is a huge step for the young person and Kirsty showed outstanding skills in adjusting their support to meet the young person's needs. Kirsty was openminded throughout and passionate when barriers did arise, ensuring we had considered all options to support. Feedback from the young person was Kirsty made them feel accepted and relaxed. Thank you.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Beth Wilson, Occupational Therapist, Tissington House, Kingsway

“Beth works incredibly hard for the patients on the ward, not just those on her caseload. She recently supported a patient through a complex discharge while also supporting them through the legal / court system. Beth accompanied the patient to solicitor appointments and advocated for the patient when they were unable to do this for themselves. Beth consistently advocated for the patient in the face of agencies who were unable to recognise the needs of the patient. Beth is a fountain of knowledge around discharges and always happy to share that. She is a joy to work with.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lisa Jackson and Fiona Hood, Healthcare Assistants, Willow Ward, Derwent Unit

“Both Fiona and Lisa are facilitating groups on the wards for our female patients, they have received lots of recognition and praise for this. They both provide ‘prizes’ for bingo, nail varnishes and products for pamper days, and snacks for movie nights. The female patients have nothing but praise for them and look forward to these sessions and groups so much, saying how much they get out of the time and how much they enjoy it all. Thank you both for always thinking of others and going above and beyond each day.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Tom Spinks, Trainee Nurse Associate, Laura Warwick and Georgia Morton, Registered Nurses, Willow Ward, Derwent Unit

“Recently all three of these colleagues, Tom, Laura and Georgia, have been instrumental in making the diary events memorable and enjoyable for our female inpatients on Willow Ward. We have celebrated Easter, May Day and football events, with these three colleagues leading their team to facilitate craft making, snack buffets and general enjoyment on the ward. The positive feedback and praise for each of these staff members has been rewarding and so positive. Thank you all for caring and sharing.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dr Oluwaseun Oluwaranti, Consultant Psychiatrist, Forensic and Rehab, Kedleston Unit, Kingsway

“Dr Olu has only been with the Kedleston Unit for a short time and is working between us and Kingfisher. We have recently had some difficult decisions to make and have had concerns about a patient’s health; Dr Olu has shown so much compassion and care for his patients’ wellbeing and best interests. He has communicated with the entire team, organised urgent meetings, shown dedication to his job and the service and has been fantastic to work with. Dr Olu has gone above and beyond, to ensure the best care and outcome for his patient in an urgent situation.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dr Rahul Gandhi, Consultant Psychiatrist, The Beeches (Perinatal inpatient unit), Radbourne Unit

“Dr Gandhi has worked as theonly doctor on The Beeches for a number of weeks now, adding to his already busy schedule, but he hasn’t let this affect the care and treatment the patients on the ward receive. He continues to go above and beyond, always being available to staff for support and to answer any questions they may have. Dr Gandhi recently received some really positive feedback from a patient who stated – “He actually listened to me and my concerns and asked me what treatment I thought would be best.” Thank you, Dr Gandhi.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lauren Bonser, Registered Nurse, The Beeches (Perinatal inpatient unit), Radbourne Unit

“Lauren has been on the ward for nearly a year now and she has made such a positive difference to the patients she has worked with and especially those she has been named nurse for. Lauren ensures that all the care she delivers is patient focused, planning activities that she knows the patients will enjoy but that also aid their recovery. Following a recent patient discharge, Lauren received some really positive feedback from a patient which was very much deserved. We are lucky to have you on The Beeches, Lauren.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul Skrytek, Lead Nurse, Derby City Community Mental Health Team, St Andrew’s House

“I would like to nominate Paul for his exceptional support during an assessment with an autistic individual who was experiencing severe anxiety. Upon arrival, the individual was shut down and unable to engage. Paul demonstrated compassion and flexibility by adapting the assessment to a video call, then to a telephone call when technical issues arose. Despite significant barriers, he enabled the individual to participate in the assessment. Without Paul’s person-centred approach and willingness to adapt, this would not have been possible. His actions truly reflect the Trust's values and made a meaningful difference.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Julie Tomlinson, Community Psychiatric Nurse, Forensic Community Mental Health Team

“Julie Tomlinson and other team members were outstanding in their quick response to an escalating situation in the community. A service user had become acutely psychotic and was exhibiting erratic, unpredictable and unsafe behaviour. The team supported the service user and residential care home staff and collaboratively managed a ‘public protection’ situation in a safe, calm and co-ordinated way. There is little doubt that the timeliness and cohesive response prevented a serious incident from occurring. Thank you.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Abbie Carter, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Derwent Unit Therapy Team, Derwent Unit

“Abbie is a one-in-a-million member of the therapy team at the Derwent Unit, she consistently goes above and beyond her role always adhering to the Trust’s values. Abbie is the perfect OT assistant; she never hesitates to support the OTs when the pressure is on and always treats every patient with kindness and compassion, ensuring they feel safe and respected. Abbie has the natural therapeutic skill of enabling patients to be the best they can be at difficult times and supporting each person with their own unique and meaningful activities to promote their health journey back to recovery.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Forensic Community Mental Health Team, St Andrew’s House

“The Forensic Community Mental Health Team has demonstrated exceptional dedication in managing several recent recalls of restricted patients under Ministry of Justice scrutiny. This highly complex process demands expertise, organisation, communication and continual risk evaluation, while maintaining a trauma-informed and compassionate approach. The clinicians involved consistently went above and beyond, balancing patient-centred care with public protection and safety. Their professionalism, humanistic values, passion and commitment were evident throughout, delivering excellence at every stage without hesitation and ensuring the highest standards of care for both patients and the wider community.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Carmel Keenan, Occupational Therapist, Forensic Community Mental Health Team, St Andrew’s House

“Carmel consistently demonstrates excellence through her exceptional attention to detail when triaging new forensic referrals. She goes above and beyond to gather and clarify crucial information, ensuring discussions around need, treatment and service suitability are fully informed. Working within forensic services requires navigating complex histories, details of serious offending and often incomplete information, yet Carmel approaches this with determination and expertise. She has a remarkable ability to explore the unknown and confidently have difficult conversations to gain clarity. Her thorough preparation and commitment ensure the team can make informed decisions and provide the most appropriate care and treatment.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Karen Shipman, Healthcare Assistant, Willow Ward, Derwent Unit

“Karen is continuously positive. She arrives on shift with energy that is extremely valuable. Karen strives to do her very best and do as much as she can. She is vigilant to patients’ needs and delivers without compromise. Karen is a ‘yes’ person and provides care that wasn't asked for or expected by patients, but Karen will find time to do these things, and this unexpected response has a very positive response from patients. She does go above and beyond and finds time to meet intuitive needs even in the most stressful situations.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lisa Gow, Support Worker, Children's Intellectual Disability Community Nursing Team, CAMHS, St Paul’s House

“Lisa has worked above and beyond to support children and young people, families and the team at a time when the team have been short staffed. She has continued with her work, taking on as much as possible, but also looked at ways to support due to the longer waiting times – for example, making resources or sign-posting to other services. She has also supported new colleagues both in our own and other teams. Lisa communicates plans and supports care co-ordination. Lisa will always come back to the team if she is unsure but also give feedback to families to ensure high quality care.”

“Zoe has worked with me since 2019 when I first came into services. She has seen every version of me, including hospital admissions, and worked tirelessly to get me the correct help in the community. She never saw the stigma associated with my illness. She just saw someone surviving with the only tools they had at the time. I was in and out of hospital until 2023 as a ‘revolving door patient’ with a few maladaptive coping mechanisms. She never gave up on me, and I’ve not had an admission in three years due to her ongoing support.”

Obiaderi Anyaha, Nursing Assistant, Forensic and Rehab, Kedleston Unit, Kingsway

“There should be a staff member of the month award, Obi has made my day by taking me out when it was raining and didn't mind the rain. It didn't rain on us anyway and we had a lovely time. She is always pleasant and polite and doesn't mind helping when you ask her for anything. It's great to have her on the ward.”

Tissington House, Kingsway

“I'd like to thank all of the staff at Tissington House for your hard work, support and patience with my mum in getting her well again. We are so grateful for your dedication and kindness, it hasn't gone unnoticed.”

Fiona Hood, Healthcare Assistant, Willow Ward, Derwent Unit

“I want to give Fiona a DEED because when she's here we do bingo games with prizes, go for walks and/or open the activity room so we can do more things in the day. And she does movie nights with hot choc, cream and sprinkles and popcorn for everyone. She is a genuine caring person, and she goes above and beyond her job role so if she gets a DEED from me I'd really appreciate it. Thank you.”

Occupational Therapy Team, Shared Therapies, Carsington Unit, Kingsway

“A big thank you to all the super green people. There is no one quite like you, such an amazing collection of characters and you’ve made me laugh, chuckle and smile. Thanks for all your comfort, support, love and kindness. I’ve enjoyed all your activities from chatting, frying onions, the wind in the greenhouse, Derby City Life Links creative expression and dozing off in relaxation and one more step along the road praising the Lord in the chapel. Poundland on a Monday, you will always continue to surprise me. You are a brilliant super green team, one never to forget.”

The Beeches, Radbourne Unit

“They helped me out of postpartum psychosis and got me back home.”

Sally Beecroft, Registered Nurse, Tissington House, Kingsway

“I just wanted to thank you for the kindness, care, and compassion you’ve shown while caring for Mum. Knowing she is in such capable and thoughtful hands helps me feel a little more at ease and less worried about her overall health and wellbeing. Thanks also for completing the care plans with such attention to detail and for asking for my thoughts. I see the pride you take in your work, and what you do really makes a difference and doesn’t go unnoticed, especially by Mum, as I always see a happy smile on her face when she sees you.”

Sycamore Ward, Derwent Unit

“Thank you so much for looking after me. You have done an amazing job. You are all so kind, loving and caring to all patients. You make a clear effort to care for everyone equally and I thank you for that, too. I have learnt a lot during my time here and hope to use it well in the community. Thank you once again.”

Recreational Team, Shared Therapies, Carsington Unit, Kingsway

A big thank you to all the great Rec Team. Thank you for giving me encouragement, peace and fun to embrace each new day. You gave me time, support advice and endless cups of tea. I've had such a lot of fun singing, playing Frustration, Uno and bingo, attending movie night and not forgetting the card making. You were with me at every stage of my recovery to the end. Never change - you are an amazing group of truly brilliant characters that blend together to make a super team.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Emily Ulyatt, Registered Nurse, Bluebell Ward, Walton Hospital

“Emily is a dedicated member of the team, she is always in high spirits, making everyone around her smile and laugh. She knows when to be light-hearted and when to be serious. She has a heart of gold and is a great nurse.”

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Eleanor Mchale, Ward Manager and Molly Till, Lead Nurse, Ward 36 Radbourne Unit

“I would like to thank both Ellie and Molly for a smooth transfer of a patient on 28 May with clear communication between us (Derbyshire police) and the ward. It is important we do the right thing, and I am of the opinion the cross agency working yesterday was good. It is pleasing to see both Derbyshire police and the Trust working so well together.”
