At the Flu Fighter Awards on 24 April 2018, organised by NHS Employers, Derbyshire Healthcare won in the 'most innovative flu fighter campaign' category.

The Trust's campaign was singled out for the way it used academic research and local data to create an evidence-based approach. This resulted in the flu vaccinations being promoted as part of the wider winter health agenda. Staff were urged to be 'winter warriors' and the campaign used a visual identity based on the TV series Game of Thrones.

As a result of the hard work of the Trust's flu team, there was a 12% increase in clinical staff getting vaccinated.

The category was judged by Dr Patrick Cadigan, a cardiologist and former Registrar at the Royal College of Physicians.
