The Beeches offers specialised treatment to women or birthing people experiencing mental health difficulties associated with pregnancy and the postnatal period. Care and treatment can be provided for those experiencing serious and complex mental health difficulties from 32 weeks in pregnancy up to 12 months postnatally.
The Beeches can accommodate up to six patients with their babies. We accept referrals locally and out of area. Patients can be admitted on an informal basis or under the Mental Health Act.
The Beeches mother and baby unit works collaboratively with the patient and their family throughout the inpatient stay.
A multi-agency approach to care is taken with regular liaison with all services involved with the family.
If it is deemed that the mother and baby unit is not the most not suitable service to meet the patient’s needs the referrer will be informed accordingly and signposted to other services.
The Beeches mother and baby unit will prioritise referrals according to clinical need. In most cases, The Beeches can admit urgently if information provided by the referrer suggests that it is appropriate.
Admissions can take place across the 24 hour period.
To refer telephone the Mother and Baby Unit on 01332 623828 prior to completing the universal referral form. To make a referral this form will need to be filled in and sent to: dhcft.thebeeches@nhs.net
