Money and valuables
Small change is useful, but it is advisable to not bring large amounts of cash or valuables into hospital with you. There is a patient’s bank at main reception for valuables. You also have locked storage in your bedroom.
Items not allowed on the ward
There are certain items you are not allowed on the ward, if your bring these with you we can lock them away in patient lockers or you can arrange for them to be taken home. These items include-
Knives, weapons, alcohol, drugs, wire coat hangers, heavy ornaments, glass items i.e drinking bottles or photo frames, Electricals like extension leads, USB pen drives, Binoculars, pornographic material, flammable materials.
Certain items can be on the ward but will need to be risk assessed and stored in the patient lockers which you are only able to access with staff. These items include:
Metal cans, scissors, sewing equipment, razors, mouthwash, aerosols, glues, cameras, high caffeine drinks, medical equipment, perfume, standard size chargers, musical instruments, CDs/DVDs
