An initial focused assessment is offered following acceptance of referral. The initial focused assessment will be offered either face to face or via video appointment and will last for approximately one hour.
The assessment can be completed by a number of professionals including community psychiatric nurse, occupational therapist, social worker, ssychiatrist or psychologist. The assessment will consider current presenting problem, past history, risks, safeguarding, current support and perinatal specific needs.
If accepted:
Confirmation sent in writing to the referrer and patient and communication of expected wait times for interventions.
Awaiting intervention waitlist:
Added to relevant waiting list for allocation dependent on clinical need i.e. Community Psychiatric Nurse, Outpatient Clinic, Nursery Nurse, Psychology, Occupational Therapy and Social Worker.
If declined:
Assessed as not having a moderate to severe perinatal mental health difficulty associated with pregnancy or the perinatal period.
Mild to Moderate perinatal mental health difficulty be signposted to appropriate local services. Communication to patient and referrer.
