Support available in your neighbourhood

We want to support your Recovery journey and wellbeing in order to support you with fulfilling your potential. There are various options for support across Derbyshire which cover your area.  We have provided you with some information below about courses and support available in and around High Peak and North Dales but if you want to know more please contact the relevant team.
 

Derbyshire Recovery and Peer Support Service

Rethink Mental Illness has been awarded a contract with Derbyshire County Council and the four Derbyshire CCG’s to deliver a county-wide Recovery and Peer Support Service.  The service will help people improve and maintain their mental health and wellbeing and reconnect with their local community by offering access to targeted one-to-one staff support, telephone support and community groups, and is open to anyone over the age of 18 living in Derbyshire who is experiencing mental ill health. 
 

Active Confidence

This is an 8 week programme, each session last for 2.5 hours and focuses on both the theory of building confidence and putting these skills into action at a local outdoor centre. It has been funded in Partnership with Public Health and is for service users who are currently open to CMHT as part of the Recovery offer.

Active Confidence can help you to:

  • Improve your self-esteem
  • Feel more confident in communicating with others
  • Feel more comfortable with trying new activities
  • Improve your skills in managing relationships
  • Improve your assertion skills

Activities will be carried out by a qualified outdoor instructor with input from Occupational Therapy and a support worker, they may include:

  • Orienteering
  • cycling
  • Rock Climbing
  • Canoeing
     
Brightside Project (Adult Education) 

The Brightside project will use supported learning opportunities to help people to manage their mild to moderate Mental Health difficulties.  It will provide short practical courses and activities designed to develop skills in confidence building, relaxation and positive decision making.

The courses are available to:

  • Young Adults (19-24)
  • Men of all ages
  • Older people (65+)
  • Carers of Older people and people with disabilities.
Project eARTh

This is an exciting long term arts programme, run by experienced artists and supported by Mental health workers and volunteers.  A wide range of arts activities are offered, often involving a project linked to the community, from mosaics to felting, sculpturing wood and willow, poetry, music, pottery, etc. No previous art experience is necessary.
 

Pan Disability Football

For individuals who have an interest in football, this is an opportunities for training and to take part in a monthly tournament.  Training is held at the Chris Hill Community Sports Football Club, every Friday 10.45am - 11.45am.

Beardwood Natural Living Project

The NLP project supports the development of skills in a rural farm setting for those in their alcohol and drug recovery journey.  This may include: skills in farming, conservation and rural crafts.
