Nurse Bank Jobs
The Derbyshire Nurse Bank provides an effective, efficient, flexible Nursing and Health Care Assistant (HCA) resource to wards, departments and clinical areas for participating NHS Trusts. When clinical/ward areas are having difficulty covering their Nurse/HCA requirements with contracted members of staff,  the Derbyshire Nurse Bank will attempt to fill area requirements with suitably skilled Bank Nurses/HCA’s. The Derbyshire Nurse Bank is recruited to on a regular basis, however currently are only recruiting Registered Nurses. During 2008/9 we intend to produce and consult on a Single Equality Scheme.  This work will be completed by April 2009 and will result in the three separate action plans which currently exist being consolidated into a single plan which will run from April 2009 to March 2012.

Equality Impact Risk Assessment
The Trust is required by law to impact assess all of its current policies and procedures to see that they are free from bias in respect of race, disability and gender.  It is also required to publish details of this work.  Despite only having a legal commitment to undertake this work in respect of race, disability and gender, the Trust took the view that it would equality impact assess its policies and procedures to cover six strands of equality:  age; disability; gender; sexual orientation; race and ethnicity; faith/religion or belief.

This outlines the Trust’s key priorities for 2008/9 and was approved by the Trust Board in May 2008.  Progress against plan will be reviewed in October 2008.

Monitoring Review
Recruitment and Selection
Every six months the Trust produces a comprehensive report showing monitoring of the recruitment and selection process for evidence of bias.  This report is studied by the Trust’s Equalities Committee.
Equal Opportunities Monitoring Figures
Every six months an assessment is conducted of the ethnicity of the workforce who have left the Trust in the previous 12 months.

Diversity Challenge
Each year the Trust organises a Diversity Challenge event to showcase good practice over the last 12 months and invites keynote speakers to present information on topical issues relating to equality and diversity.
