NHS pension scheme

The NHS pension scheme is one of the most generous and comprehensive in the UK. Every new employee of Derbyshire Healthcare automatically becomes a member and you will get an excellent package of pension benefits, fully protected against inflation and guaranteed by the Government.

Pension scheme benefits

All Derbyshire Healthcare employees are eligible to be part of the NHS pension scheme. The Trust contributes 14% of an employee’s pensionable pay and, from day one in the scheme, you have life cover of a minimum of two years gross salary. You will automatically become a member on joining the Trust, unless you inform us otherwise.

If you would like further information or advice on the NHS pension scheme, transfers from other pensions schemes, as well as forms to nominate recipients of life assurance payment [DB2] or a partner pension nomination form [PN1], please contact the Pensions Department on 01332 258100.

The Trust has access to a local NHS Pensions Advisory Service. This service is based at London Road Community Hospital in Derby. Contact details are listed below:

After Retirement

The NHS Retirement Fellowship is the social, leisure, educational and welfare organisation for current and retired NHS and social care staff and their partners. It provides an opportunity for retirees to meet and spend time with other like-minded people, to enjoy existing friendships, make new friends and enjoy themselves together.
