Drop-in to speak to your school nurse

School nurse meeting

The School Nursing Service in Derby City offers a drop-in service for young people at senior schools around the city. This is a free confidential and non-judgemental service which provides:

  • Advice on key issues for teenagers such as alcohol, relationships, healthy eating and weight management, bullying, family issues, self harm, anxiety and eating disorders
  • Support for pupils with long term health needs and general health issues.

The aim of the service is to improve young peoples access to health services and to help them discuss their worries and concerns confidentially, allowing young people to take responsibility for their own behaviour, healthcare and lifestyle. The school nurse will speak to the young person about other healthcare services that are available to help them further and refer them if consent is given.

Something you would like to speak to your school nurse about?

If there is something you would like to speak to your school nurse about in confidence, then please attend one of the drop-in sessions at your school where you will be made welcome and listened to. Once you have met your school nurse once, it is up to you to decide what you want to do. You will also be given a choice of when and where you can meet your school nurse again if required.
