The Centre for Research & Development (R&D) was launched on 17 April 2013.
A key principle of the NHS Constitution is that it aims for the highest standards of excellence and professionalism through:
The delivery of high quality care that is safe, effective and focused on patient experience
The people it employs, and in the support education, training and development they receive
The leadership and management of its organisations
Its promise to innovation and to the promotion and use of research to improve the current and future health and care of the population
Our over-arching organisational strategy 2013-2016 ‘Improving Lives, Strengthening Communities, Getting Better Together’ also sets out a vision to improve health and wellbeing of all the communities we serve, under-pinned by our core values.
The work of the Centre for Research and Development will deliver against the Trust strategy and its vision and values, as well as the NHS constitution pledges on research.
“Better together through meaningful research and development”
Research is the way in which evidence is gathered about "what works" in order to improve patient treatments for the future. At Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, we are committed to the promotion and conduct of clinically focused research and work within our local research networks to increase the number of opportunities for our service users to take part in these high-quality research studies. Our Clinical Research Team work with clinicians to promote, facilitate and deliver national studies within the Trust.
The trust also has three areas of research on which we have a particular focus, Compassion, Self-Harm & Suicide Prevention, and Dementia. We work with our clinical services and external contacts to develop our knowledge and understanding in these areas with an aim to improve patient care and community wellbeing.
Education, Training and Library
The Centre for Research and Development host a number of conferences and training/workshops throughout the year. We aim to deliver an innovative, bespoke, personalised education service that is completely focused on patient and carer experience through the implementation of the Education Strategy to ensure a solid stable foundation for the workforce. Utilizing classroom, eLearning and blended approaches, both for core subject matters and personal & leadership development streams.
The library provides a wide range of services to support Trust staff to deliver: patient care, evidence based practice, service development, lifelong learning, education and research.
