Derbyshire Healthcare staff are amongst the first in the UK to sign up to a brand new initiative being rolled out by Time to Change, the leading mental health anti-stigma campaign run by the charities Mind and Rethink Mental Illness.

On Monday 10 February we hosted the national launch event for Time to Change's Organisational Learning Peer Network in Derby, where we shared good practice and encouraged local business leaders to join the Network.

Steve Trenchard, Chief Executive, said:

“1 in 4 people throughout the UK will suffer from a mental illness at some stage in their lives and it is important that colleagues know how to recognise the vast range of mental health issues and are able to speak freely about their emotional wellbeing in the workplace. This Network will support businesses across the country to do just that.”

The Network, aimed at businesses who are already involved in the Time to Change campaign or those that would like to find out more, is an opportunity for line managers, wellbeing and human resource professionals to share good practice, learning and peer support on creating mentally healthy organisations and reducing stigma and discrimination in the workplace.

At the event Trust staff shared a case study with other business leaders in attendance about its approach to tackling mental health stigma in Derbyshire and improving staff mental health and wellbeing.

Sue Baker, Director of Time to Change, said:

“Over the last three years we have noticed a growing appetite from businesses across England to share good practice and learnings with each other. Our Organisational Learning Peer Network, that we have launched today in Derby, will help to support and bring businesses together that have a shared interest in mental health and wellbeing.”
